Infection of the cervix with human papillomavirus (HPV) and its prolonged presence in the body in the absence of treatment is the primary cause of cervical cancer development. ¹

Therefore, every woman should know her HPV status – awareness of the presence of high-risk HPV types in the body allows for timely screenings and early detection of precancerous changes.

Cervical cancer can also be prevented through the following measures:

• HPV vaccination – provides effective protection against the dangerous strains of the virus and is recommended for girls and women aged 9 to 45 ²
• annual screening – includes a preventive gynecological examination and a cytological test to detect atypical cells ³
• timely and comprehensive treatment of precancerous cervical conditions in case they are detected ¹
